Full Tilt Ahead Delivers

Learning goals, not technology, are the driving force in our philosophy.

Beyond our core expertise in online learning for higher education, we have a rich history of providing learning solutions for Research Dissemination. The big push in grant funded research these days is how to disseminate findings, how to put evidence-based methods into practice, and how to use technology for dissemination. Full Tilt Ahead has extensive experience working with grant-funded researchers to accomplish these goals.

Full Tilt Ahead’s significant experience in education technology has allowed us to evaluate and identify the best-in-class solutions and approaches to online course and environment design and development. This extends to providing IT staff with guidance in setting up learning environments, planning and implementing hardware and technology infrastructure to facilitate an effective learning environment and maintenance, support, and training.

The development of an online learning environment requires consideration and establishment of a number of parameters prior to the first student signing on. Each of the major phases must be navigated to ensure that the final online learning environment is stable, scalable and extensible to permit continuous improvement over the long-term.

Prepare & Research

The Preparation and Research phase is a deep dive planning session to determine the appropriate approach. Full Tilt Ahead understands curricular requirements from both a logistical and practical standpoint. Other components of this phase address how to build support through Faculty and Student feedback groups; how to integrate data across multiple systems or platforms; determine interaction tools; and evaluate and understand technology requirements and how to support the technology infrastructure, faculty and students.

Design & Develop

The Design and Develop Phase is where a significant number of assets will be developed. This phase includes the construction of course environments and tool templates, which provide a framework for the necessary course elements. Templated course environments can include both asynchronous and synchronous components. This stage also involves assisting faculty with the development of content specific materials such as lectures, resources, activities and assessments.

Train & Test

FTA uses a rolling, agile development process that shows progress in regular intervals because testing and correction is done incrementally. This allows for quick corrections and improved prioritization. FTA believes in crowd sourcing within an organization for review of materials, infrastructure capability verification, identifying and solving accessibility challenges, and identifying and improving poor user experience issues that result with volume. FTA also develops training materials to be disseminated to key audiences to foster ownership and buy in.

Launch & Maintain

The primary focus immediately following the launch is an initial high support period. Once adoption is sufficiently managed, regular appraisal intervals address intended or unexpected change. Along with the change to course materials, technology updates will necessitate regular software updates to platforms and an evaluation of how those updates will impact other technology components that are in use.

Full Tilt Ahead’s exceptional instructional design and development teams are complemented and supported by their experienced team of visual communicators with strengths in graphic design, web design, video, and audio. The FTA creative staff is passionate about engagement and collaboration. We believe that good design facilitates the exchange of ideas. Moreover, good visual communication helps guide a user down a path of action, discovery, knowledge, and connection.

Telling a story, exchanging ideas, or delivering information is enhanced through a well-crafted presentation, expertly designed deliverable, engaging video, or intuitive environment. Our goal is to create a design that marries the instructor’s goal with the student’s need.
